Board of Directors

Susan Taylor | president

Cornell is a wonderful community and I’m delighted to have the opportunity to maintain and enhance it! I grew up in Toronto and have lived in Cornell since 2002 with my husband, and have since had two sons. Currently I am an active real estate salesperson serving the Markham area. My background is in marketing, events, and PR in the technology industry. My husband, our sons, our golden retriever, and I take full advantage of all that Cornell has to offer!

I’ve been involved in organizing Cornell events since 2004 and then officially joined the board in May 2007 as the Events Director. As President since January 2011, I am in regular contact with Town of Markham officials, Local Builders and Land Owners to ensure that Cornell residents have a voice as the area develops. I am committed to ensuring that Cornell maintains its sense of community and spirit.

Waseefur Rahman | vice president

Having lived in North York for over thirty years, I moved to Cornell in 2007 to join the growing family of my son. It is a great community with diverse demographics. I am very happy to be a part of this wonderful expanding community. Soon after I moved to Cornell, I joined CRPA. I found the CRPA Board a very dedicated group. I look forward to contributing to the activities of CRPA, especially in offering my humble efforts towards working to a common goal of higher values and making Cornell a great example of community living. By profession, I am an engineer with a Master’s degree from New York. I have served the energy industry in research and technology development for over three decades, including spearheading institutional advisory groups in Canada, U.S. and globally.

Lee Ann Donaldson | treasurer

I moved to Cornell with my husband and our two children in 2004 from Virginia. Cornell is the only place in Canada we have ever lived and honestly we could not imagine living anywhere else. Our children love the community and the close ties they have built living in this laneway community. My profession is accounting and currently I am the Controller of Spatial View Inc. in Toronto. Since finance is my profession I enjoy volunteering those services as Treasurer of the CRPA. I was elected to the board in 2005 and was not a member long before the office of Treasurer became available. It has been a joy being part of such a wonderful community and I feel very fortunate to be able to give back.

Sarah Alexander | membership director & new residents

My husband and I have both grown up in Markham and have lived in Cornell for over 10 years. We love the Cornell Community and everything the neighbourhood has to offer. As we believe in Cornell so strongly we are also both active business people within the community. I am currently an active Mortgage Planner and my husband, along with his Partner, are the Cornell Chiropractic Centre. Cornell is a rare and unique community one of which we are proud to raise our daughter in. I joined the CRPA to give back to the community that has given so much to us.

Jeannie Daniels-Burry | secretary and schools liaison

Formerly your Director of Membership services and now acting as Secretary and Schools Liason on the CRPA board. I have been on the board now since 2001. My family and I have had the pleasure of calling Cornell our home since 1999, and in fact were some of the pioneers in the first phase, buying into the "vision of Cornell". When I’m not helping out at one of our many CRPA social events, you may catch a glimpse of my 'mug' in magazines, catalogues, on commercials and TV and currently as a fitness host on the Shopping Channel. You may often see me off and literally running through the streets of Cornell with one of our many running groups, as I am also big fitness buff and am a Certified Fitness trainer in the Markham area. I am proud to call my home the community of Cornell and look forward to serving the residents in this outstanding community.

David Hannah | planning director

I first became aware of the Cornell Community in 2005 and decided with my wife then that this was a place that we could call home. In 2007, once we were ready to buy our first house, we moved to Upper Cornell. I come from a small town in Eastern Ontario and appreciate the community feeling we have here that we have not been able to get in other places in the GTA. We just had our first child this spring and we are excited about the many aspects of this community that make it a great place for children to grow up in. My educational background is engineering and business, having completed my MBA in 2009. Although I am new to the board I am excited about planning and am eager to do what I can with this interesting portfolio.

Ralph Klingmann | sports director

Like many other residents, I grew up in Markham and moved to Cornell as soon as it opened in 1998. My wife, Anca, and I have a 9 year old daughter Alexandra and a 4 year old son Karl. I work as a Computer Programming Consultant, but many weekends I am at the race track doing timing for events such as the Toronto Molson Indy, Montreal F1 and Mosport. When I find time, I play old-timers baseball and hockey.
