Cornell Precinct Plan update

In the fall of 2012, the CRA and the City of Markham hosted a joint event to present the updated Cornell Precinct Plan to the residents of Cornell. The City of Markham is now in the final phase of this project. 

On January 22, 2013 a presentation was made to the Development Services Committee.  As part of the resolution staff is seeking public comment of the Draft Cornell Centre Precinct Plan document (available below).

Parking tickets issued during snow storm to be cancelled

Colin Campbell, Ward 5 Councillor for the City of Markham, has advised that By-law Services staff will be cancelling the parking tickets issued during the storm last Friday due to extraordinary weather circumstances. This will be communicated to those who received the tickets, as soon as possible.

Annual General Meeting - Thursday January 17th 2013

The Cornell Rate Payers Association invites you to its Annual General Meeting at the Cornell Community Centre

WHEN: Thursday, January 17th, 2013. Doors open at 6:30pm

WHERE: New Location:  Cornell Community Centre & Library - Rehearsal Hall on the 2nd floor. 3201 Bur Oak Ave (at the corner of Church St)

AGENDA:

6:30pm - Doors open.  Visit the following exhibits:  Mattamy Homes, York Region Police & Fire Services, Emerald Ash Tree Borer Info booth, and more.

7:00pm - Presentation Starts.  Agenda includes:

  • York Region District and York Catholic District school board representatives will review next steps for Cornell public and Catholic schools, including update on future high school 
  • York Region Transit represenatives will provide update on Cornell routes including Go Shuttle service
  • Update on Emerald Ash Borer infestation in Cornell trees
  • Status of Grand Cornell higher density development
  • York Regional Police representative presents update on Cornell Neighbourhood Watch program
  • Introduction of board members, CRA Year in Review, Financial Update

Cornell Tree Lighting Ceremony - Fri Dec 7th at 7 pm

It's that time of year again! Put on your mittens and get your singing voice ready, the annual Cornell Tree Lighting Ceremony is almost here!

When: Friday, December 7th, 2012

Time: 7 pm

Where: Mews Park (corner of Country Glen Rd and Cornell Park Ave in Cornell Village)

We will sing carols lead by Jonathan Lee, Tenor, and enjoy hot chocolate and treats from Tim Hortons, all leading up to the grand finale when the tree is lit for the season.
