Our Biggest and Best Picnic Yet – The sun was shining, the music had us grooving and there was excitement in the air, as Cornell celebrated its 8th Annual Picnic on Sunday, August 13th. Over 1500 people attended this year’s festivities and over 1100 hot-dogs and cobs of corn were served! It was an all-around FUNtastic day for everyone, kids and parents alike.
Cornellius the Lion, our new Mascot, made his debut appearance at the opening celebration parade and Golden Jubilee Dedication. Cornell Neighbourhood Watch was present to raise awareness of community safety, Thirst for Books paired up with Justine’s Fun Faces to raise funds for the CVPS library, and the CRPA dunk-tank raised funds for the CVPS crossing guard program. The Wrays offered free cones from the ice cream truck, and Louie De Bartolo brought us rides to the sky in the ReMax balloon! Our thanks to singer extraordinaire Mark Cassius who performed at the Dedication of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee, and treated us to a vocal set during the picnic.
