Sixth Annual Cornell Classic Golf Tournament

Fun was had by all at the Sixth Annual Cornell Classic Golf Tournament held on Saturday September 9, 2006! The day was a big success with 75 players participating and an additional 25 friends joining us for dinner.

Over $1500 was raised to aid two very good causes – $1100 was donated to pay the balance needed to fund the crossing guard situated in front of Cornell Village Public School, and the remaining $400 was donated to the Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation, a facility that has touched most of us in Markham in some way.

We could not have done this without the support of our sponsors! – thank you to all the valuable businesses in our community who contributed to our causes . We would like to especially acknowledge the contribution from Draeger Medical Canada Inc., providers of the medical products and services that are needed throughout the patient care process. Not only did Draeger offer up the ownership of a new car to the player that could sink a hole-in-one (unfortunately there was no such player this year... we need more practice!), the company's substantial cash donation paid for some of the items on our prize table and went a long way towards funding the balance needed to pay for our crossing guard.

The Cornell Rate Payers Golf Tournament kicked off this year on a sunny, breezy September 10th, at the Parkview Golf Club. It was a new location for the event, which attracted over seventy golfers and their guests, who joined us after the game for dinner. View the fun in our event album below.

All the guests left with a prize generously donated by local sponsors, plus the tournament also raised sizable donations for a number of causes. The school and the hospital will split $743.79, and $1,110.00 from the sale of Mulligans and the putting green, is being donated for Katrina relief.

Way to go Cornell! The CRPA would also like to thank all of those who sponsored and contributed to such a great day. Hope to see even more of you next year!
